Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is a group of volunteers who help move the Alumni Association forward. Most of the work is done in committees and organized through tools like Slack and Zoom. The board must have at least 15 members, but there’s no limit to how many can serve. Each year, open spots are filled through an election, including seats from directors whose terms are ending.

An Elected Director is an alumnus who wins the annual Homecoming election for a three-year term. Elected Directors can vote on board decisions and may also be chosen to serve as Officers if they meet the needed requirements. The Board of Directors also consists of  Honorary Alumni and appointed Directors, such as the V.P. of Legal Counsel and Chapter Representatives.  The appointed Directors are appointed based on specific skills and/or licensure requirements per the bylaws.

Members of the board represent the 8000 living members of the Association. They are responsible for supporting the mission of The Deed of Trust, MHS and supporting the members of our Association. The board members are responsible for spearheading programs and events during Fellowship and Homecoming. They are also responsible tor determining benefits for the membership.

You must be an alumni who has paid their dues for the year in which you are running and the year(s) you will serve and you must submit an application no later than the deadline. To be eligible for the 2026 Board of Directors seats, you must be an alumni who has paid their dues for 2025 and 2026. If elected, you must also pay dues for 2027 and 2028.

Alumni who have paid their dues and Honorary members of the Association are eligible to vote during the annual Homecoming election. Affiliates are not eligible to vote.

Eligible voters can mail in a ballot vote electronically or in-person during Homecoming.

The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the management and administration of the Association in all areas and for all purposes. The Board holds the authority to conduct the business of the Association, except for matters specifically reserved for the membership as outlined in the bylaws. Additionally, the Board is responsible for adopting the annual budget.

If you’re elected to the Board during Homecoming, your term will start on January 1 of the next year. The Board meets formally five times a year, either in person in Hershey or on Zoom. There are also events throughout the year that are attended by the BOD including but not limited to Fellowship Weekend typically held in Spring and Homecoming held in the Fall. Committees meet as needed using Zoom or Slack. We understand you’re volunteering your time and want to be respectful of that. A director should assume a commitment of several hours a month.
